Strathy Point is one of the most northerly points on the mainland.  There is is a lighthouse at the the point itself and a good view of the weather.  In the first picture you can just see John enjoying the view.....

The beach is fantastic and a real surfers paradise.  Apparently the Surfing Cold Water Championships are going on near Thurso.....

We stayed in a tiny cottage in Melvich and these are pictures of Melvich Bay and Beach.  We had glorious sunshine and the colours of the sea, sky, sand and gorse are magnificent.

The first day of our holiday we made the long drive north, stopping at Dunrobin Castle.  A little north of Inverness the castle belongs to the Countess of Sutherland. Perched right on the coast it has magnificent views of the sea.

On the journey up we went through some of the most amazing scenery.  The'A' road that took us on the last leg was not up to our normal standard!
